What is Reiki?
Reiki is the ancient practice of transmitting healing life force energy through the hands of the practitioner. It is based on simple, ancient healing techniques. It originates in Japan and was developed by Mikao Usui. Reiki uses specific hand positions, on or above parts of the body that correspond to the major organs and energy centers. The purpose of Reiki is to increase your own self-healing powers and promotes the natural balance of the body. Reiki is non-invasive and gentle. During a session the client's own body is in control of directing only as much energy as it can handle to the places that it needs. It thereby restores the energy balance on a physical, mental and emotional level.

What is Reiki useful for?
General relaxation and well-being
Before and after surgery
Relieving stress
Lessen or alleviate pain
To alleviate migraine headaches
It is also effective in conjunction with psychotherapy for people who have experienced emotional trauma
There are no situations where Reiki could be harmful and it works well when incorporated with other healing modalities.

What can you expect during a session?
The client will be either seated or lying down fully clothed. The practitioner will place their hands on the client and move the hands to different positions on the body as the session progresses. The client may experience some heat or tingling at the site of the practitioner’s hands during the session which is completely harmless.
