A little before Christmas we took a little drive up to a little town called Salado, not far north from where we live. It’s a quaint little village nestled cozily next to the Salado creek, which was still running thanks to a relatively moist summer. Most people visit for the shops and food, and that was our intention until we came across this very cool scultpure garden next to the art center in town.\u00a0 These lovely sculptures greeted the us as we arrived.\"\"<\/a>They are made out of metal and glass, and I was told by a friendly passer by that they light up at night. Pity we could not stay to check it out.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The garden was the vision of the Public Arts League of Salado and Keep Salado Beautiful.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>And it was designed and built by Texas Master Naturalists and Master Gardeners and it shows.The sculptures were intermingled with all native plants and helpful hints on how to grow them, how to improve the soil and how to compost. What a fun peaceful place to be.
\nHere we came across some flowers that bloom all year. They tend to be very drought tolerant too!\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

And we saw a stray moose – I wonder how he made it all the way down here to Texas!\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

And the local bear cubs were happily messing about.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

There was even a huge snail making it’s way along….\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

After some shopping and\u00a0 visit to the peaceful creek we went home. It was a really nice Sunday afternoon Central Texas adventure.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
